Welcome to Ficus Lawyers & Consultants
Who we are
We are a proudly Melburnian firm born from the desire for flexibility – in the way we communicate with you, the way we work and the way we bill.
We are unapologetically generalist. We see ourselves as knowledge experts. Because we understand the interplay between different areas of law, we can use our broad knowledge to find the best solutions – we know real life issues aren’t black and white.
We don’t presume to know it all. If the situation calls for an expert, we’ll help you find one.
What we believe
Kindness is not a weakness. We don’t subscribe to the dominant image of ‘the lawyer’. We’re genuinely friendly people who actually want to help you and your business grow and prosper.
We are straight talkers. We are not stuffy suited know-it-all’s.
We are completely transparent with our fees. We will undertake most of our work on a fixed fee basis so you know the cost upfront. Where we can’t do this, for example in litigation, we will give you the best estimate possible and keep you updated as soon as things change.
We don’t want to draw every dollar out of you – we work hard to settle disputes quickly.
For us happy client equals happy lawyer.
Why Ficus?
We see ourselves as knowledge experts. So much so, we’re named after the humble Fig Tree, Ficus in Latin, otherwise known as the tree of knowledge.
Hi, I’m Nicole
I’m the Principal Lawyer at Ficus Lawyers and Consultants.
I bring the valuable perspective of my formative training in litigation to all the matters I handle. My approach is rooted in risk mitigation, which means that whether I'm preparing or advising on a contract, lease, or a will, I do so with a keen awareness of what can go wrong and just how severe the consequences can be. This foresight empowers me to take the necessary steps to provide the best possible protection for my clients.
When it comes to litigation and dispute resolution, I adopt a no-nonsense approach to ensure that my clients achieve the best outcomes. My depth of experience comes from a decade of working in boutique generalist firms, serving as In-House Counsel, and lecturing in Business and Corporate Law. This diverse background has equipped me with a broad range of skills and knowledge to navigate complex legal situations effectively.
I became a lawyer because I have a strong desire to help people. In addition to my professional pursuits, I have dedicated considerable time to volunteering for various organizations, including Refugee Legal. While raising my young family has temporarily shifted the focus away from volunteering, it remains a cause that is close to my heart, and I eagerly look forward to resuming my volunteer work as soon as time permits.
